The Lyon Saint Exupéry airport is located 25 km east of Lyon (France), and less than one hour away by car from the main cities of the Rhône department (Rhône-Alpes region). It is the fourth airport in France for passenger traffic and was inaugurated in 1975. It is an important connection point for many airlines.

In June 2000, the airport was dedicated to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a french aviator and writer, born in Lyon, in occasion of his hundredth birthday.

The Lyon airport is located at the center of a network of roads and motorways, so that it is well conncected with the surrounding cities and occupies a privileged position at a European level. The airport is also connected to the main cities of the Rhône region by the SATOBUS, which runs frequently throughout the day.

The TGV high-speed train has daily connections from the Lyon Saint Exupéry airport to seven cities in the Rhône-Alpes department, four cities in Provence and three Italian cities.
