Home Airports Airport London Gatwick
The London Gatwick Airport, with approximately 34 million passengers per year, is the second busiest airport in London in terms of traffic (after Heathrow). It is located 46 km south of London, 40 km north of Brighton.
At the moment it has only one active runway (there is a second runway that is used when the second runway is being maintained), which is used by approximately 90 airline companies that fly to 200 destinations worldwide: in fact, the flight controllers at Gatwick manage to perform an optimum management of air traffic. Moreover, the fact that there is only one runway used at the same time guarantees the safety of all operations.
- North Terminal: mainly used by British Airways and by the charter airline companies, First Choice Airways and Thomsonfly, and by other airline companies of the SkyTeam Alliance.
- South Terminal: is the oldest terminal of Gatwick airport; it is mostly used by easyJet, Virgin Atlantic and the charters Monarch and Thomas Cook. The airport train station is also located here.
The two terminals are connected by an automatic transport system, which is free of charge, leaving every 6 minutes (every 3 minutes during peak times).
London Gatwick Airport is connected to London by Gatwick Express, which reaches the London Victoria station (Westminster) and London Bridge station in half and hour.
National Express Coaches provides shuttle services from Gatwick to Heathrow and Stansted. The easyBus low cost shuttles connect Gatwick to London Victoria in 90 minutes. Generally, there is a wide network of buses that connect the North and South terminals with various local destinations such as Crawley, Horley, Redhill and Horsham.
