The Eastern Airways airline was founded in 1997, with headquarters in Humberside, UK. Eastern Airways regularly operates domestic and charter flights. The main Eastern Airways hubs are Aberdeen and Newcastle airports, with secondary hubs in Leeds Bradford, Durham Tees Valley, Humberside, East Midlands, Southampton, Isle of Man, Inverness, Wick, Hawarden (Chester) and Norwich.

An interesting fact in the history of the company is shared by Chris Holliday, chief operating officer: Eastern Airways was the first to open an international route between Southampton and Brussels in 2005. This flight represents the first connection over France from the south coast of England.
Eastern Airways has been recognized as Airline of the Year 2006/07 by the European Regions Airline Association. Earlier in 2003/04 and 2004/05, it was awarded second place.

The English airline is the only fleet in the world with 24 BAe Jetstream 41 planes and it is the only airline in Europe to use these models; it also uses Saab 2000.
