Bruxelles is also an important center of European politics: the city is home to the headquarters of the European Commission and Concil of the European Union as well as the political headquarters of NATO and of the Western European Union. In contrast to this important institutional role, the city's mascotte is the Manneken Pis, a child going pee-pee!
