British Airways , founded in 1935, is the main, scheduled airline in the United Kingdom. Its main hub is located at London Heathrow Airport and is the largest airline company in the U.K. Its secondary hub is located at London Gatwick Airport.
British Airways focuses on an international market; it offers over 550 destinations worldwide and covers routes mainly towards North America, but also the Far East, Europe, Africa, South America and the Middle East. However, as of September 2009, British Airways discontinued all of its direct overseas flights from airports in the UK, other than Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. Passengers coming from airports other than London airports must connect in London.
British Airways is a member of OneWorld, together with Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair,  Iberia, LAN and Qantas.
British Airways is also sometimes incorrectly searched as: British Airway and BritishAirway.

01.10.2009: BA announced that more than half of its flights took off early in September. British Airways had a record punctuality performance. In addition, more than 87% of British Airways’ flights departed early or on time. This will surely improve how customers rate the airline company. Terminal 5’s efficiency has made the airline more punctual and more reliable.

30.09.2009: Today marks the first anniversary of the launch of British Airways’ social media website, metrotwin.com. In honor of this occasion, BA is launching another twin, the Metrotwin Mumbai. This site allows users to make recommendations on what to do in Mumbai and in London.

29.09.2009: The first long haul flight departing from London City Airport and arriving to New York, with an exclusive, all-business service took place today. British Airways will offer this service twice daily thanks to two uniquely configured A318s. Passengers will be able to send emails, texts and use the internet via an in-flight mobile communications service, provided by OnAir. In addition, passengers can check in up to 15 minutes before flight departure time.

25.08.2009: Today marks the 90th anniversary of British Airways – 90 years ago today, the world's first daily international air service was launched from London to Paris.  Since then, British Airways has become a world leader in the airline industry and has carried over 1.2 billion passengers worldwide.

25.06.2009: British Airways’ staff is supporting the airline’s cost reduction program. Close to 7,000 employees have agreed to take a voluntary pay cut in order to support the airline. This will save the airline company up to 10 million pounds.

15.05.2009: British Airways has launched a new type of service on its website. A new value calculator can be used to check the true cost of low cost carriers such as Ryanair and EasyJet with all of its additional charges. It will allow passengers to understand the benefits of BA’s full service versus all the charges of the no-frills carriers. Customers will understand British Airways’ benefits that the price you see is the price you pay.

01.05.2009: British Airways is making some changes to its winter schedule. BA will be increase service from Gatwick to Bermuda, Port of Spain, St-Lucia and Barbados. Also new in this winter’s routes is service from Heathrow to Las Vegas and Gatwick to Montego Bay, Punta Cana, Male, Sharm El Sheikh and Innsbruck. These are just some of the routes with additional service for British Airways’ winter schedule.

28.04.2009: S7 Airlines, one of Russia's leading domestic airlines, is the newest partner of oneworld, the world's leading quality airline alliance. The alliance implementation program will take about 18 months and British Airways will support S7 throughout. Currently S7 serves 72 destinations worldwide and thanks to its alliance, will add 54 more cities to its network.
