Airline tickets with British Airways

HAND LUGGAGE: depending on your class of travel, luggage allowance may vary. maximum size is 56 x 45 x 25cm .

Should you be travelling light on a UK Domestic or European short haul flight, to and from London, you can get away with BA's hand baggage only tickets. These fares include everything from online check-in, allocated seats, refreshments on board to the same generous hand baggage allowance, but exclude a checked baggage allowance. Infants and children on a hand baggage only fare may still check a fully collapsible pushchair (stroller) and a car seat.

For an additional fee, should your plans change check in bags can be arranged.


CHECKED LUGGAGE: depending on the route, class and ticket purchase checked luggage allowance may vary. A checked bag can measure up to 90 x 75 x 43cm (35.5in x 29.5in x 16in) – including things like the handle, pockets and wheels.


British Airways has special arrangements for transporting sporting equipment like skis and surfboards, or large musical instruments. In some cases these can be carried as part of your free baggage allowance.

As well as being able to check in at the airport itself, British Airways also accepts online and mobile check-in 24 hours before you fly. Why wait until you arrive at the airport, check-in online beforehand and you'll have a greater seat choice as well as the opportunity to purchase extra baggage with an online discount.

Arriving at the airport be sure to have your boarding pass with you or collect it at a Check-in Kiosk.


With hand luggage only, continue straight through to security and departure gate. Should you have luggage to be checked in, take it to a Bag Drop desk then proceed to security and departure gate. If extra baggage has not bee purchased in advance online it can still be done at the airport at a Bag Drop desk.


Flight and passenger details are required for most countries, referred to as Advance Passenger Information (API). When checking-in online, should you not see this step your details may already be in the reservation or you are travelling to or from a country that doesn't require API.


British Airways history

The airline British Airways (BA) carries the flag of the United Kingdom and is the largest airline in terms of fleet size, international destinations and international flights. In terms of passengers carried it is second-largest, behind easyJet. Based in Waterside near its main hub at London Heathrow Airport, British Airways has a long heritage. Although officially established as British Airways Group in 1972, the airline dates back to the 1930s and celebrated its 90th anniversary on 25 August 2009. The airline proceeded to make alliances with American Airlines and Iberia Airlines, which formally began operations in 2010. The merger was finalised in 2011 and created the International Airlines Group (IAG), making them the world's third largest airline based on annual revenue and second largest airline group in Europe. Today British Airways serves more than 160 destinations worldwide, six domestic and is one of the few airlines that fly to all six permanently inhabited continents.

October 2014 - Royal Brunei signs deal with BATo extend its route network to include a further six UK destinations, Royal Brunei Airlines has signed an agreement with British Airways.


The deal will extend Royal Brunei's reach, via BA's domestic fleet, to Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Belfast.


Business class passengers will get access to all BA business lounges,and all passenger baggage will be checked-in all the way to the end destination.


Royal Brunei currently operates flights from London Heathrow to 16 international destinations.


BA to fly B787 to Montreal and SeoulThe winter 2015/16 will see British Airways roster a B787 Dreamliner to both Montreal and Seoul Incheon.


Airlineroute.net reports that the carrier will be switching the B777-200ER aircraft which currently plies the routes to Boeing 787s from October 25th next year.


BA flies from London Heathrow to Montreal daily and to Seoul Incheon six-times weekly.


BA will take the Dreamliner off its Austin route and replace it with a B777-200ER in October 2015.


September 2014 - BA to return to Kuala LumpurFollowing a 14-year absence, British Airways will return to Kuala Lumpur next year.


In summer 2015, the national carrier will operate a direct daily service between London Heathrow and Kuala Lumpur.


The service is scheduled to begin on May 27 flying from London Heathrow, terminal 5 to the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. Return flight BA034 will take-off from Kuala Lumpur at 2305 and land in London at 0525 local time the next day.
