HAND LUGGAGE: one piece of hand luggage cabin luggage is allowed with Aer Lingus. The allowance and size can vary depending on the route and airline. A maxium weight of 10Kg per person, measuring a maximum of 55 x 40 x 24cm.

CHECKED LUGGAGE: maximum weight of 15Kg per person. Baggage allowance can vary depending on the route and ticket, requiring you to purchase checked-in luggage. The reservation includes 1 PIECE OF HAND LUGGAGE PER PASSENGER if not.

Aer Lingus check-in procedures

Avoid wasting time at the airport and check-in online. Customers are welcome to use the web check-in service if you are between 30 hours and 2 hours before scheduled flight departure time. The airline Aer Lingus also offers a 30 Day Advance Web Check-in. Please note however that the both standard web check-in and the advance web check-in services are not available on all routes, nor at all airports.

Aer Lingus history

The airline Aer Lingus is Irelands national flag carrier, founded by the Irish Government in 1936 with the objective to provide air services between Ireland and the UK. The Aer Lingus fleet has one of the most worlwide iconic Irish symbols, adorned on the aircraft tailfins - the famous shamrock. Operating predominantly in destinations across Europe, North Africa, Turkey and North America. It is Irelands oldest airline in existence and, the second largest behind low cost rival Ryanair. The airline's headquarters are located in Dublin Airport, Ireland. In its mission to connect Ireland with the world, the carrier developed alliances with airlines such as British Airways, KLM and jetblue. Aer Lingus continues to evaluate future opportunities to provide better connecting routes to and from Ireland. The airline Aer Lingus celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2011.


The airline Aer Lingus serves over 80 destinations across Ireland, England, Continental Europe, the United States and Northern Africa. Employing an impressive 4,000 plus people and managing a fleet of 45 Airbus aircraft which flew more than 9,5 million passengers in 2011.


Although no longer a member of the Oneworld alliance since 2007, Aer Lingus has maintained code share agreements with OneWorld, SkyTeam, and StarAlliance members as well as interline agreements with JetBlue Airways, Aer Arann, and United Airlines.

October 2014 - Passenger numbers on the rise for Aer Lingus... the airline reported a 5.3% increase in passengers carried last month, compared with the same period the previous year. The airline along with Aer Lingus Regional service, together carried 1.041 million passengers in September.


September last year Aer Lingus saw long haul traffic increase by 27.8% to 138,000 passengers, up from 108,000 in September the previous year.


Although on a smaller scale, short haul traffic also saw an increase with 784,000 short haul passengers reporting an increase of 1.2% from 775,000 in 2013.


For the first nine months of the year Aer Lingus passengers were up 4.5% to 8.692 million.


September 2014 - Aer Lingus Regional to launch Leeds to Dublin routeThis winter, Aer Lingus Regional will introduce a 13-times weekly service between Leeds Bradford and Dublin.


Operated by Stobart Air and runing from October 28 to March 28, the route will mark the first time in 14 years that the Irish airline has flown out of Leeds Bradford.


Operating out of its hub at Dublin airport's new terminal 2, the carrier expects to carry up to 70,000 customers annually on the route.
